Twin Bees and Skull Caps

Today I hopped on the parkway up North a bit to see the Twin Bees for some stock photos I needed to do. And we did the stock stuff. We shot them real fast and quickly moved on to more fun things like little dead animals made into hats. This was a very easy setup, super dramatic. Most of the work is how you pose your models, because the light is so harsh and flows all in one direction. Finding the right angles to show off those shadows can be tricky. When it works, it’s pretty faboosh.

Tokyo Rebel Contest – Punk Lolita

Hindsight. Whoever created that word is laughing real hard at the rest of the world that has to use it. Looking back at the outfit put together for the punk version, I now notice that it’s not very top heavy. I should have bangled her arm with chains and studs to balance out the fluffy bottom. Maybe next time. I do like how the outdoor photos came out. I am not a very good photographer when it comes to natural light. I tend to forget things like houses and cars and debris are in the frame. Yuffie has some very cool stuff at her house, the old Fisher fireplace being one and the GIANT log splitter being the other.

Gothic Lolita – YuffieBunny for Tokyo Rebel Fashion Contest

I entered my model friend YuffieBunny into the Tokyo Rebel fashion photo contest. The prize is $250 to spend on clothes and goodies at the Japanese import store. I hope we win. Here are two shots from a series I did featuring a Gothic Lolita dress made by Samantha Rei (Blasphemina’s Closet). The next series is a punk version. I’m not quite so happy with the punk version. I’m no stylist, but I can see the top is too plain for the bottom. If I can grab Yuffie when she has free time, I’ll be reshooting the punk version.

I really loved every piece from this designer. The antique lace and sort of shabby chic lolita looked fresh, comfortable and perfect for spring time picnics.
