Head Kandi, a hair accessory crafter, contacted me recently to do some photos for tradeshow banners. They would be tall, vertical banners with some text. The hair accessories are super colorful and cyber and the tradeshows would mostly be geared towards fans of Japanese animation. I’ve been playing with translum plastic from Savage. It’s a long roll like their paper, but this stuff is an opaque plastic. I used a bare light with gels behind the translum and a simple softbox up front and to the left. The results were pretty interesting and I like how evenly the color from the gel spreads on the plastic background. You can see how it’s too hot in the first picture, before I moved the light farter away in the second picture. Check out Head Kandi’ accessories at – http://www.head-kandi.com/
