I entered my model friend YuffieBunny into the Tokyo Rebel fashion photo contest. The prize is $250 to spend on clothes and goodies at the Japanese import store. I hope we win. Here are two shots from a series I did featuring a Gothic Lolita dress made by Samantha Rei (Blasphemina’s Closet). The next series is a punk version. I’m not quite so happy with the punk version. I’m no stylist, but I can see the top is too plain for the bottom. If I can grab Yuffie when she has free time, I’ll be reshooting the punk version.

Tokyo Fashion Festa came to NYC at FIT’s Haft Auditorium. The auditorium seats approximately 750 people and the middle front section was filled entirely with girls (and some boys) dressed in Japanese lolita style. A mix of street, visual kei and goth were sprinkled throughout the rest of the venue. Morrie from Creature Creature was present and there were probably a few other semi-famous folks in the crowd.

Baby The Stars Shine Bright is one of the most popular lolita brand names that represents sweet lolita. You’re not a lolita in NY if you don’t know about, own a piece from or desperately want something from BTSSB. Alice & The Pirates is a line from BTSSB that’s slowly gaining popularity in North America. A&TP focuses on pirate-lolita and punk themed designs.
